softwaredevelopment Since 2005/2006 I have been deeply interested in object oriented programming and know a great deal about many different languages. Of them all, my favorite (and the one I'm most proficient with) is Java. In late 2006, I launched an organization/site called Helisoftworks.com to be a label for freelance software development and publication for both free and paid projects. Recently, I have merged Helisoftworks with my portfolio website. For information about a few select projects that I have worked on, see below, or head to the App Zone to see live web-integrated applications that I have developed. mcardleinventory manager During 2008 and 2009, I developed an inventory management program for McArdle Laboratories at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to help manage their stockroom inventory and laboratory check outs. Developed 100% in Java and deployed via Java Web Start technology, the program is intended to be a simple way for lab members to login from their workstations and check out their supplies in a manner which cuts work loads carried by the business employees. As of late 2009 and 2010, I have rewritten the entire project, once again in Java using Web Start technology, to work far more efficiently. The new project now consists of both a serverside application for running a dedicated server in-house and a clientside application deployed from the internet with Java Web Start. For more information, visit the project page here. |

webdevelopment I have been designing websites since 2003 and have a strong mastery in developing web user interfaces, working from the design stage, using photoshop, to implementing designs in HTML and CSS. In more recent years, as I have progressed my object oriented programming skills, I have developed strong skills in PHP and have worked with ASP .NET for writing back-end code for websites. From 2011 - 2012 I was employed as a web developer for Matt Lea Consulting where I worked primarily with PHP and QCodo. While working there, I exercised my HTML/CSS and PHP skills by working on contracted website jobs and helping develop Schematical.com, a platform for easily developing and deploying Facebook applications. |
